Your Proactive Caregiver Advocate: Dr. Cynthia Speaks!
Caring During Christmas Time
How did we do caring for each other during Christmas time? I watched the news and heard several people state that “how long can you put family off” and blame it on the pandemic?” My thoughts and statements are “how many people have we put in jeopardy because we did not put off seeing family?” I know I sound like a broken record which turns people off…Oh Well! I don’t mean too. I care! As often as I can verbalize the importance of staying safe and keeping other’s safe is where my LP is stuck (for those who may not know…LP stands for “long playing”)…a LP is a big record played on a record player. Did I just tell my age…Haha.
Well, if telling my age keeps you alive, so be it.
As you know, I am most concerned about our aging population. They are considered the vulnerable population with just cause. There is a host of reasons to stay away until we can see our way clearly. No, it will not be a perfect union. No, we cannot put our guard down. No, business will never be as usual. But, what can be usual is, caring for others. Providing support to our at-risk populations in ways that avoid contact. I no longer have my mother and father to protect, but I have you, you, and you. I want to protect you with my written voice. Let us celebrate distance love.
Our home was quiet this year, on purpose. We celebrated on our family chat, sent pictures, quotes, food pictures and laughed out loud. Let us gear up for our next chapter. Surely, the only way forward is up. Must be, will be!
