Topic: Caregivers, We Are Embarking on a New Year

Caregivers, I salute you! I appreciate you! I value you! I respect you! I know your struggles. I know your pain! I know your challenges, and guess what? They will continue in 2022. Take heart; we have each other. I have shared with you over this past year’s 100 blog posts, on how to turn your lemons into lemonade, from understanding the safety issues that align with our loved ones to ways to help loved ones age in place. I have asked you to be mindful of nutritional health practices, especially with care recipients with chronic conditions.

I want you to remember that being proactive is the best way to navigate the world of caregiving. Knowing what to do and what is the best way to care for our loved ones is a daily learning platform. Aging is a fact of life, and it will affect all families. But if we take the blinders off and pay attention to our aging parents and other family members, we can make the changes way before they are needed. Yes, change is difficult, but it is required to care for those we love. True, we may not comprehend what may be vital in the caregiving space, but I hope you will continue to follow me for information to help you care for others. The more you know about the aging process, the more proactive measures you can take. Have a goal to keep your loved ones in their environment as much as possible around family and friends that love them. Loved ones should never feel like a burden, so knowing how you act and speak to the elderly matters. Infuse love and joy.

And, finally, the best place for our loved ones at the end of life is surrounded by the love of a family, hopefully at home, a home they know well and felt the most beloved and appreciated. As Your Proactive Caregiver Advocate, I want you to know; I am here to serve you. Visit my website(www.cynthiajhickman.info) and request a consultation in the New Year! Be well, Be safe and bye for now.

Happy New Year, and Welcome to 2022.
